History and Organisation

Lead by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation, Slot Coordination Switzerland was established on 4 December 2003 as an independent non-profit company (legally as an association constituted under Swiss federal act) and is operative since 1 April 2004. The management and all personnel are directly employed by Slot Coordination Switzerland. Our head office is located at Zurich airport with a branch office at Geneva airport.

Both member groups (airlines¹ and airports²) have an equal voting share.

As the European Slot Regulation stipulates that the coordinator shall act independently, the board oversees the company's financial and management matters, but has no involvement in slot allocation decisions.

Funding Scheme

Slot Coordination Switzerland is financed by the payment of a Slot Service Fee as follows:

• 50% paid by the airports of Geneva* and Zurich for each IFR flight operated
• 50% paid by the airline/operator for each IFR flight operated to/from Geneva* and Zurich

The airline/operator* part of the slot service fee amounts to CHF 2.00 per rotation (one single slot = CHF 1.00). The billing process is done by the respective airport along with the landing fees.
